Where are maternity services located at University Hospital?
Our services are located in the west wing of University Hospital. We have our own entrance, please follow the signs for Women’s and Children’s when you enter the grounds of University Hospital.
Why do we need maternity Statistics in Wales?
The purpose of this release is to provide a statistical overview of maternity and births in Wales with analyses of mothers’ characteristics. The data and analyses are used to inform Welsh’s Government’s maternity policy development.
How often do maternity hospitals publish their statements?
Each Hospital Group and Maternity Hospital will publish an updated statement each month. The objective in publishing these statements is to provide public assurance that maternity services are delivered in an environment that promotes open disclosure.
When to make a decision on maternity unit?
There is no need to make a firm decision on a place of birth early in your pregnancy. Making a decision on the place of birth later in pregnancy will allow you more time to make an informed decision. You are welcome to change your mind at any point in your pregnancy. If you choose to have your baby in a maternity unit a tour is an option for you.

Can You Have Your Baby in a maternity unit?
If you choose to have your baby in a maternity unit a tour is an option for you. At the beginning of your journey a decision of which hospital you plan to start with for scans and plans for antenatal care will be required to progress with making appointments. How old do you have to be to go to UHW hospital?
No one under the age of 12 is allowed to visit due to the risk of passing infection to patients. No one with any infection is allowed to visit. To try and minimise the risk of infection please only bring essential belongings. Children: siblings allowed during general visiting times, but no other children allowed on the ward
