Bill smoothing is a way to help you budget by getting more regular bills that are not only smaller, but a bit more predictable in their amounts. You still pay the same, just without the potential for bill shock and additional financial stress when more substantial bills land all at once.
Is it better to pay utilities monthly or quarterly?
Is it cheaper to pay energy bills monthly or quarterly? Direct debit is usually the cheapest way to pay your energy bills. However, there tends to not be much difference in price between a quarterly and a monthly plan. Some suppliers will offer a discount if you pay your bills by quarterly direct debit.
How do you take meter readings?
Read the dials from left to right. If the pointer is between the two numbers, always take the lower number. If the pointer is directly over a number, write down that one. If the pointer falls between 9 and 0, write down 9 and reduce the reading you’ve already taken for the dial on it’s left by one.

Is it easy to change supplier to AGL?
It was very easy to change retailer supplier to AGL A little bit of difficulty. A little bit of difficulty with the translation of the password and which network we were on. First contact appeared to be an overseas call centre where the operator was difficult to understand and couldn’t fix my issue.
What do you think of AGL customer service?
Despite some misunderstanding, due to external factors not in the power of the energy provider, I believe AGL deserves 5 stars, especially for the intervention of one customer service assistant, who called me on a Sunday morning promising my connection was going to be finalized before the end of the day…said and done…many thanks!
