Do wheel rim protectors work?
Rim protectors are very effective at protecting your expensive alloy wheels against scrapes and light scratches. You should know that poor quality rim protectors could come off while driving so it is important to purchase high quality rim protectors from a reputable dealer/installer.
How do you protect alloy wheels from KERB damage?
Alloy wheel rim protectors protect the edges or rims of your alloy wheels. Some do this by covering the edges, while others provide a slight protrusion that takes the hit of any contact. The idea is that if you do scrape the kerb, the protector is the only thing that gets damaged.
Do RimBlades stay on?
We’re happy to report that, yes, RimSavers and RimBlades are designed to stay on the wheel if installed correctly. Even if you accidentally scrape your wheel against the curb, your wheel protector will stay put (while protecting your wheel from the curb – more about that here).
What is rim protector fitment?
Alloy rim protectors are strips of rubber or plastic that are fitted to the edge of alloy wheel rims. By design, they either cover the edge of the rim, or protrude slightly – both designs protect the wheel from knocks or kerb scrapes.
Are RimBlades worth it?
The Rimblades proved far easier to fit than Alloygators – they stick on in minutes once you’ve cleaned the wheel. The trouble is they don’t provide as much protection, with damage showing up more quickly. So although Alloygators are pricey, they’re much more durable.
Should alloy wheels be waxed?
To keep alloys looking as good as they should, they should be regularly polished to maintain the finish. While some alloys need polishing, others will require wax. This will be dependant on the wheel’s finish, if the wheel has a chrome finish, a chrome polish is required.
How do you stop your wheels from pitting?
Apply high quality chrome polish to the rims. Using a high quality chrome polish will prevent future chrome pitting. Pour a generous amount of chrome polish on a clean and lint-free rag and wipe in a circular motion. Continue wiping until the rims feel smooth.
