Who owns Roosters Brewing?
Kym Buttschardt and her husband, Peter, are not the descendants of poultry farmers. When they chose the name for their second restaurant and first brew pub in Ogden’s Historic 25th Street district, it wasn’t due to a personal affinity for male chickens but because the bird would look good on a logo.

Parent Roosters Inc. is a private company. Bob and Corrine Frick opened the first Roosters restaurant in 1988 in Dayton, Ohio. The Fricks partnered with Dan Ponton to expand the concept in 1991….Roosters.

Do roosters taste different than hens?
It does taste different if you eat some side-by-side with hen meat though. Roosters do not have as much meat under the skin. It’s tougher than female meat, and it’s often described as being more “stringy”. It has a “fuller” flavor and it is much darker in color too.
Why do we not eat roosters?
Unless, of course, they are raising their own meat. But in western countries, people don’t eat rooster meat because they are less economical to raise than hens. Rooster meat should be cooked slowly on low heat. Moist cooking is advisable as the meat may be tough.
How does a rooster mate with a hen?
“When a rooster mates with a hen, he mounts her and, standing on her back, lowers his cloaca (vent) and the hen inverts her own cloaca to meet with his. There is no penetration, but the sperm packet released by the male is taken into the hen’s cloaca or vent. Sperm can live in the infundibulum for more than 2 weeks.”
