Are root pouches good?

Will roots grow through grow bags?

What do you put under grow bags?
A good mix for grow bags is 1/3 moss, 1/3 compost mixture, and 1/3 vermiculite. This mix retains moisture and is very important for gardening with grow bags. You can also mulch your grow bags with wood chips just like you would in the garden.
Should you put drainage holes in grow bags?
Growing vegetables or flowers in growing bags isn’t all that different from growing them in other types of containers but you do need to bear in mind the lack of drainage holes, so if you are too heavy handed with the watering you will end up with a marshy mess.

How to remove root control bag before planting?
Make sure to remove the fabric Root Control Bag before planting in the landscape. Cut the bag from top to bottom and peal the bag away. Where the bag hangs up on any root, cut the fabric around that area. Some growers remove the bag and wrap burlap around the ball before shipping.
How is a root caught in a bag?
Roots do not circle on the fabric as they do against plastic. Instead the root is caught by the fuzzy inner surface of the material. The root penetrates the fabric. The tough fabric, however, prevents the root from expanding. The root is choked or girdled by the fabric.
