Where are the swales in the Cimarron National Grassland?
I traversed the Cimarron National Grasslands from the eastern edge north of the Cimarron River as far west as i could until I hit private posted land. At numerous places you can still see the swales left my wagons. These are well marked with limestone posts. The Point of Rocks is there, and was a landmark on the trip.

Just north of Elkhart Kansas, you can find an area on the Cimarron river bed called point of rocks. This is an excellent area to hike and observe the natural minerals of South west Kansas.
