Do Remploy still exist?
The last Remploy factories close on Thursday, ending 67 years of state-run sheltered factory employment for disabled people in the UK. For some, it represents a long overdue progression from paternalist attitudes towards disability and work; for others, an unforgivable betrayal.

Is Remploy any good?
Remploy was a verry good company to work for because they cater for all kinds of disabilities. Plus the training was excellent. The only problem was getting to and from work as their was only one bus in the morning and one in the early evening that did suck s bit but I overcame by cycling to and from work.
Who closed down Remploy?
By the late 1980s there were 94 sheltered Remploy factories across the UK. But in 2008, when there were still 83 left, the Labour government closed 29 of them. The coalition then announced in March 2012 that it was withdrawing all subsidies and that the remaining 54 factory-based businesses would be sold or closed.
Why did Remploy close?
The government announced the Remploy factories were running at a loss, and their focus was to support disabled workers into mainstream employment. The government says that efforts are being made to close this gap and they are getting 150 people into work or training each day.
