How long will it take? Since your property already has a coaxial cable connected to the existing utility box outside your premises, a standard installation of the nbn™ connection box in your premises will normally take approximately one to two hours.
Does TPG NBN come with a router?
We provide the modem for all our NBN plans as they are sold as an Internet & Home Phone Bundle. As the Home Phone component of your bundle is encrypted for security, you will need to use our modem if you are to make and receive phone calls.
How do I setup my NBN TPG modem?

- Connect the DSL port on the back of the modem to your telephone wall socket.
- Connect your telephone handset to the Phone1 port on the back of your modem (if Phone Line is included with your NBN service)
- Connect your computer to any of the 4 LAN ports on the back of your modem.
Do I need a technician to install nbn?
Will I need a technician appointment for installation? If your premises needs a new copper line, a technician will be required to attend to complete the copper cabling. If you already have an nbn™ service connection that is active, it is not likely that you’ll need a technician’s visit.
How long does TPG installation take?
On the day of installation The standard installation will include connecting your existing copper phone cable to an nbn™ Distribution Point Unit (DPU) in a pit close to your premises. The standard installation could take up to two hours.
What is required for NBN installation?
You’ll need a power source that’s within 1.5m of the modem so your phone and internet can work on the nbn. If you don’t have a power point where you want the nbn connection installed, you’ll need to get a licenced electrician to install one for you.
Do you need a wall socket for nbn?
To connect to your nbn™ powered plan via an FTTC connection, it’s vital you have a telephone wall socket installed. If you don’t, or only have a cable wall socket (e.g. for pay TV), contact your phone and internet provider.
How do I activate my NBN modem?
Locate the yellow UNI-D1 port. Use the cord with the RED and YELOW plugs. Insert the YELLOW end into the YELLOW port on the nbn Connection Box and ensure the box is switched on. Insert the RED plug into the RED port on the Telstra Smart Modem.
How long does it take a technician to install nbn?
It can take up to 48 hours after the nbn™ Technician has completed the installation for the service to be completed & ready to use.
Do you need a landline for TPG nbn?
To use your new TPG NBN service, you must use a compatible modem or router. If your NBN service includes Phone Line, you must use the TPG supplied modem to use the phone service.

(FTTP only) TPG NBN service does not include the supply of a backup battery unit. This means during a power outage, you will not be able to make or receive any calls, including calls to emergency services. Please ensure that you have an alternative method to make calls such as a mobile phone.
