Established in 1967, the fraternity and sorority community at USF is a vibrant place within our campus. With 49 chapters to choose from, our fraternities and sororities allow a place where students can grow and develop to be better versions of themselves.

USF currently houses 14 national fraternities and sororities in the FSL Greek Village. Each organization resides in a two- or three-story house comprised of double bedrooms with a community kitchen, common restrooms and a living room.

Can you join a sorority without living on campus?
Some sororities may require members to reside in the house or at least on campus. However, off-house members may have to pay parlor fees for using the house during meetings and activities.
Do you have to be a freshman to join a sorority?
Academic Eligibility. You usually need to be a full-time student at a four-year college in order to join a sorority. Some colleges don’t allow freshmen to join sororities or limit their involvement in them. Sororities emphasize academics, and most have a grade point average requirement between 2.5 and 3.0.

When did the University of South Florida get its name?
In 1957, the Florida Cabinet approved the name “University of South Florida.” At the time, USF was the southernmost university in the state university system. In 1962, the official USF mascot was unveiled as the “Golden Brahman.” In the late 1980s, the mascot evolved into the “Bulls.”
