Is a pusher fan better than a puller fan?
A pusher fan sits in front of the radiator. A puller fan on the other hand sits right behind the radiator. It pulls air through the radiator and has less impact on airflow at high speeds than a pusher fan since it is behind the radiator. Puller fans provide more cooling capacity than pusher fans.
Are Flex a lite fans waterproof?
You will also want to mount it high in the engine bay to keep it away from road debris and excessive water that can splash up as you drive. Finally, they are water resistant, but not waterproof.
Are SPAL fans reversible?
For most street rods Spal recommends a curved blade fan; for more high-performance applications a straight blade is suggested. Generally fans are rated in cfm (cubic feet per minute), however there are no uniform standard of comparison. This is a straight blade fan that is designed to be reversible.
Are Flex fans safe?
It is therefore fitting to remind the owners of North American-built, eight-cylinder passenger cars and light trucks produced between 1970 and 1980 of the danger of flex-fan blade failures. If the engine is running and the hood is open, any person standing in line with the fan could be seriously injured or killed.
Should the radiator fans push or pull air?
A Push configuration is more efficient in cooling when its blowing cool(er) air from outside the plenum through a radiator. A Push also makes your build louder. In Pull configuration the fan or fans are drawing an air stream out of the radiator.
Should radiator fans push or pull?
Use an electric fan. Preference should be given to a “pull” vs. a “push” fan. Mounted on the engine side of the radiator, a pull fan does not interfere with airflow at highway speeds. All shrouded fans should be on the engine side of the radiator.

What happens if you reverse the polarity on a fan?
They are reversed by switching any two wires (1-3-2). Also, many DC motors also don’t reverse if you reverse polarity. The armature reverses, but so does the field, so they still go in the same direction. Reversing the field wiring does the trick.
