Notable Species In woods and farmland around the reservoir there are Common Kestrel and Eurasian Sparrowhawk, Tawny Owl, Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker. Summer visitors include Turtle Dove, Spotted Flycatcher and warblers such as Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Blackcap and Garden Warbler.

Can you carp fish Bewl Water?
Never mind carp in Bewl Water, at the moment there is hardly any WATER in Bewl Water!! Saw a lot of medium sized fish when I was fluff chucking over there years ago. Didn’t see any big ones or we would of guested it. fished bewl from bank and boat for years and never seen any signs of a carp.

What village is under Bewl Water?
It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Lamberhurst, Kent. The reservoir was part of a project to increase supplies of water in the area. It supplies Southern Water’s customers in the Medway towns, Thanet and Hastings.
What’s under BEWL water?
The land was acquired, farmers relocating their properties and stock, and some homes such as Dunsters Mill were themselves relocated whilst others were moved to Cousley Wood and to the Weald and Downland museum at Singleton. Eleven buildings and several lanes are now under the water.

What’s under Rutland Water?
Nether Hambleton – also called ‘the lost village’ – is now under the water, a small community of houses and farms abandoned forever and frozen in time. The Old Hall, built in 1611, and a few houses on the lower slope of Rutland Water are all that’s left of Middle Hambleton.

The Rutland Water reservoir was officially opened in 1976 after two villages were controversially flooded to create it. When the dam was built it submerged the villages of Middle and Nether Hambleton at the eastern end of the Gwash valley near Stamford.
