MDA Muscle Walk is a life-changing event that strengthens families and communities. Leading up to the event, participants and teams fundraise to help MDA find research breakthroughs across diseases, care for kids and adults from day one and empower families with services and support to live longer and grow stronger.

MDA is funded almost entirely by individual private contributions and generous corporate sponsors and organizations. Why can’t DMD be cured?

There is currently no cure for the disease, and patients with DMD have an average life expectancy of just 26 years old. A mutation in the dystrophin gene, which is important for maintaining muscle fibers, causes DMD. Muscle fibers in people with DMD are highly susceptible to injury and are also unable to regenerate.
