What fluid goes in a NV 5600?
Specifications. The NV5600 takes a special lubricant, not gear oil. The Mopar part number is 4874464. Transmissions specific 5W30.
Can you use Pennzoil synchromesh?
It may be OK for modern synchromesh transmissions, but it is NOT recommended for our old ones. It is too thin/light, especially for the summer months. I just called the Pennzoil techline and they also don’t recommend it and said to either use GL-4 rated mineral oil or even better GL-4 rated synthetic oil.

Is Pennzoil synchromesh GL4?
Synchromesh is not GL4 or GL5 rated. Synchro is pretty runny stuff.
What is synchromesh fluid?
Valvoline™ Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid is a high performance manual transmission lubricant designed to meet the extreme demands of passenger car manual transmission gearbox applications in certain General Motors and Chrysler vehicles with synchronizers.
How many quarts does a NV5600 take?
4.75 quart
The NV5600 has a 4.75 quart fluid capacity, but we recommend adding an additional quart when filling for better lubrication to 6th gear, so we’d recommend you purchase 6 quarts total.
What viscosity is Pennzoil synchromesh?
Then along came Pennzoil which introduced “Pennzoil Synchromesh” MTF with a 9.3 cSt@100C viscosity. This fluid fulfilled the specifications for both GM and Chrysler manual transmissions as their factory fill.
Is all synchromesh the same?
All the Synchromesh fluid is made to the same GM specifications. People around here have used both and I don’t think anyone has found any difference.
What weight oil is synchromesh?
5W-30
Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 5W-30 MTF – AMSOIL.
What is the viscosity of Pennzoil synchromesh?
What does synchromesh fluid do?
What is the difference between synchromesh and non synchromesh?
Any transmission that requires the driver to manually synchronize the engine speed with the speed of the driveshaft is non-synchronous. Most manual transmissions in modern passenger vehicles are fitted with synchromesh to equalize the shaft speeds within the transmission, so they are synchronous transmissions.
Which is the best synchromesh fluid for manual transmission?
Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid. Pennzoil ® Synchromesh Fluid is designed to offer optimal protection for moderately loaded gears in manual transmissions. Containing a high detergent additive system, it helps cope with water, dust, dirt, and any other small deposits you might encounter on or off-road 1.
What kind of base oil do you use in synchromesh?
Yes Sta-Lube GL-4 (non-synth/conventional mineral base oil) is what I have used for years in my 3-speed synchromesh transmissions and rears. Available at Napa. My experienced transmission rebuilder recommends synthetic, but I am still hesitant at this point.
What’s the difference between Valvoline and Pennzoil viscosity?
At 40C, Pennzoil KV=41.6 cSt while Valvoline KV=49.9 cSt. In terms of Viscosity Index, Pennzoil VI=208, while Valvoline VI=157. The fluids do, however, have similar pour points and 100C KVs. 1. Does the lower 40C kinnematic viscosity indicate that the Pennzoil fluid far outperforms Valvoline at temps in this range (40C)?
