What did Chevy 882 heads come on?
Re: 882 heads the 882 heads were installed on the 350 ci. and 400 ci engines(400 heads had steam holes). The 882 castings had a double heat-riser passage and were prone to cracking beacuse they ran so hot. If you have these on your engine, get rid of them.
Are 041 heads good?
They are not the best flowing (not bad though), but can be pocket ported at home very easily. These heads are a replacement for the 186 castings. I think the only real difference is that the casting are a bit thicker (which is better).

I have in fact seen & owned them Cast as 882 exact same head as a 881 , late 74 882 issues had the good thick iron casting , high speed valve train and 2.02 valves, hardened valve seats all FACTORY INSTALLED . These will run the higher RPMs easy and can be ported to make even more HP with little work…..at an afordable cost.

Click to expand… Those 882’s will only run up to 4200 in rpm but max out the torque below that. Find anything like Camel Humps/ Vortecs at that car flea market will make huge improvement. To do any work on those 882 heads is about same cost of buying used set of Vortecs.
