What is a COP in relation to Unfccc?
The Conference of Parties (COP) is the apex decision-making body of the United Nations Climate Change Framework Convention (UNFCCC). The UNFCCC was formed in 1994 to stabilize the greenhouse gas emissions and to protect the earth from the threat of climate change.

Parties to the Convention, United Nations and related organizations and agencies, media and non-profit organizations with observer status may attend the sessions of the Convention, in accordance with Article 7, paragraph 6 of the Convention.

This will be the 26th edition of COP, or COP26, as well as the 16th CMP meeting and the 3rd CMA meeting. COP26 is being hosted by the UK in Glasgow, from 1 to 12 November 2021.

By attending as a representative of an observer organisation: Certain NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and IGOs (inter-governmental organisations) have observer status to attend COP26.
