What is cafco?
CAFCO 300 is a durable, gypsum based, wet mix, commercial density Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM) designed to provide fire protection to concealed floor and roof assemblies, steel beams, columns, and joists in building construction projects.
Can Cafco 300 be painted?
CAFCO® 300 overspray may stain masonry and painted surfaces or corrode aluminium and anodised aluminium surfaces. Care should be taken to adequately protect these. Polyethylene or polypropylene plastic film and duct tape are recommended for this purpose. Efficient project set-up results in an economical installation.
What is cementitious fireproofing?
Cementitious fireproofing is a Portland cement-based material that is batched onsite and spray applied. It is commonly used to provide fire protection to structural steel members, but can also be used to protect structural concrete.
How thick is spray on fireproofing?
½″
“Specified” Thickness of Fireproofing (SFRM) requiring spray-on fireproofing are to have a ½″ covering of Cafco.
What is intumescent fireproofing?
Intumescent coatings, often referred to as intumescent paint, are used in buildings as a passive fire resistance measure. They can be applied to structural members as an aesthetically pleasing fireproofing product. Some intumescent products can expand to more than 100-times the original thickness.
What is Fendolite?
Promat FENDOLITE® MII is a lightweight cementitious spray with an unrivalled track record in the oil and gas industry. It offers protection against the most severe fire types, including hydrocarbon pool fires and jet fires.
Is vermiculite fire resistant?
Vermiculite is a highly regarded product within its industry and has been used as a fire-retardant surface coating for over 20 years. It is used to impart a high degree of fire protection to many products in a variety of industries. Its low density and impressive insulation properties make it useful in: Building boards.
Can you paint cementitious fireproofing?
Can fireproofing products be painted? The paint should be applied over the material with the minimum amount required so as to avoid saturating the material. UL has approved this application of painting SFRMs and confirms that it will not adversely affect the fire resistance rating.
What is the difference between cementitious and intumescent?
The coating literally grows as a means of forming the type of barrier that cementitious coatings maintain regardless of temperature. By increasing in volume and decreasing in density, intumescents slow the heating of steel and prolong the possible response time before a significant failure or collapse occurs.
What are intumescent materials?
Intumescent materials are a core component of passive fire protection, and can be categorised as substances that swell when exposed to heat. This reaction is used to great effect in order to seal penetrations in otherwise fire resistant walls, floors and ceilings.
What do you need to know about CAFCO 400?
Product Information CAFCO 400 / ISOLATEK Type 400 is a medium density, Wet Mix Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material (SFRM), designed to provide fire protection for structural steel where higher levels of physical abuse or traffic may be anticipated.
