What does EcoLPi mean?
Liquid Phase injection
EcoLPi stands for Liquid Phase injection of liquid propane gas – LPG. It’s the most advanced LPG technology currently available and has been under development at Ford since 2007. EcoLPi produces 27 per cent more power and 10 per cent more torque than the previous E-Gas LPG system.
Are LPG falcons any good?
The LPG equipped Falcon is arguably better to drive than the petrol model. As a result of its higher power and torque outputs, it is significantly more responsive and quicker accelerating. Once the darling of the taxi industry, the Camry Hybrid has, by-and-large, usurped it.
What is EcoLPi Falcon?
The EcoLPI Falcon offers power, torque and engine performance coupled with the space, comfort and towing capability of a family sedan. Best of all, it brings down fuel costs and emissions levels to those normally only seen in a much smaller car.
What gas does Ford Falcon take?
Regular unleaded was Ford’s recommended fuel for your car, that’s 91- octane. They also gave the tick of approval for E10.
Can you convert LPG back to petrol?
Converting it back to petrol is pretty easy, particularly if it’s a dual-fuel system that’s fitted and you still have the petrol fuel tank. It’s just a matter of removing the LPG parts and pieces and fitting the petrol fuel system parts in their place. Any mechanic should be able to help you with the conversion.
Is the Barra reliable?
Common Ford Barra engine problems also include oil pump gears and valve springs failing, but they are generally considered to be exceptionally robust motors which is one reason they’re beloved for engine swap jobs.
Does LPG give same mpg as petrol?
The bigger the tank, the further you can drive on LPG. You do however get 10-15% less range than using petrol, but this is offset by the lower price you pay at the pump. 35 MPG works out to 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres or 62 miles. With a 64-litre tank, you’ll theoretically be able to drive 434 miles.
Is the Ford EcoLPi system good for the environment?
Unlike other alternative fuels, LPG is readily available right across Australia and with the Ford EcoLPi system offers significant savings in vehicle running costs and immediate advantages in treatment of the environment. Both are becoming increasingly important factors when it comes to buying a family car.
Why did I change the rods on my EcoLPi?
The main reason for the change to thicker rods originally was due to backfires bending the rods, and it does appear less likely in the EcoLPI (although I never have worked with LPG myself)
What kind of power does Ford Falcon EcoLPi have?
The EcoLPi six-cylinder engine generates 198kW and 409Nm at 3250 rpm, marginally higher (by 3kW and 18Nm) than the same engine when operating on 95RON unleaded petrol. EcoLPi’s power peaks at 5000 rpm, 1000 revs lower than the petrol, and so can run out of steam a bit early.
How many litres of gas does a Ford EcoLPi have?
The 120-litre gas cylinder can only be filled to about 93 litres as space must be left for expansion of the liquid into gas form. In country running the fuel range can be over 700 kilometres, around town this will drop to about 400-500km. The EcoLPi shares a five-star ANCAP safety rating with the whole FG X Falcon range.
