How do you use a carbonation cap?
Attach your CO2 gas line to the carbonator cap with a Ball Lock Disconnect, turn your regulator up to 20-30 PSI (DO NOT EXCEED 40 PSI !!!!), shake vigorously for a minute or two (or until you reach the desired carbonation level) and enjoy your carbonated beverage!

How to force carbonate cider:
- Fill a plastic bottle with cider leaving generous headroom for shaking.
- Squeeze the bottle to remove any air in the headspace.
- Screw on the cap and connect the ball lock fitting.
- Set the CO2 pressure low and slowly turn on the take to pressurize the bottle.
How do you carbonate still cider?
To carbonated cider in the bottle, a small amount of sugar, called priming sugar, needs to be added to the cider right before bottling. The yeast will feed on this new sugar and produce more CO2, but because the bottle is capped, the CO2 is forced into the cider and it becomes carbonated.

Pour the soda bottle’s contents into a pan. Heat the liquid on low, stirring gently to help release bubbles. Inspect the soda for bubbles; once they’re gone, the drink has been decarbonated. Can you carbonate water without a machine?
To carbonate your own water you will need a seltzer bottle or seltzer system like SodaStream. Like I said, we make homemade sodas all the time…so we use our own seltzer bottle. But if this is a one-time recipe for you, club soda will work just fine.
How do you Decarbonate a drink quickly?
To decarbonate soda, use a clean folded paper towel and stir in your soda for 5 seconds. Other methods of making soda flat include pouring it over crushed ice, using a wider glass, and gently heating the soda in a pan. Heating in a pan is best for bulk de-fizzing.
Should hard cider be carbonated?
But not to worry. If you want sweet cider, just add some sugar alcohol (like the xylitol in the photo below) to the brew that the yeast can’t eat up. Back carbonation gives you much more control over how dry or sweet, and even still or fizzy your cider is.
How much carbonation do you put in cider?
It depends on the product. Anything not defined as “Hard Cider” as per 27 CFR § 24.331 is carbonated under 3.92g/l CO2. Actual “Hard Cider” has a limit of 6.4g/l but that is usually too much for foaming. You would be best to try out some carbonation levels on draft as see how far you can go before it foams.
What are carbonation drops?
Carbonation drops are simply balls of boiled hard sugar. They make carbonating bottles nice and easy as you can just pop them into a bottle without measuring. However, these are designed for 330ml and 750ml bottles so other sized bottles will require you to cut them into smaller pieces which may present challenges.
