Adels Grove which is 10km from Lawn Hill Gorge and the Boodjamulla National Park has been forced into caretaker mode because it is in the Burke Shire Council’s Pandemic Control Area. The blow to tourism numbers for the Adels Grove Camping Park follows a fire which tore through the business last July.

It’s a nine-hour journey north-west from Mount Isa (along both sealed and unsealed roads), so you’ll need a 4WD for this adventure and all your offroad essentials like spare tyres, extra snacks, water, and a UHF radio. Don’t need to panic about fuel, you can fill up at Adels Grove.
Is the road to Adels Grove sealed?
From Cloncurry, Normanton and Julia Creek proceed to Burke & Wills Roadhouse where you will take the Wills Development Road to Gregory, after passing the Gregory Pub turn left over the high bridge and the road is sealed for the first 17km, then another 28km on unsealed road to the Century Mine turn off.

Which is the best way to get to Adels Grove?
There are two ways (from the south or the east), and both are gravel roads. Probably the best and shortest route is via Gregory. By the way, if you are camping or caravanning, I would not recommend staying in Adels Grove. It is way overpriced and the facilities are pretty ordinary.
