Can cyclists use Canal towpaths?
Cycling UK welcomes the decision by the Canal and River Trust to allow considerate cyclists to ride along most of the length of its towpaths. All towpaths should remain open to cyclists along their entire length, unless there are insuperable safety issues that can only be avoided with restrictions.
Can you cycle along the Canal?
Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the whole route along the towpath. National Cycle Network Route 60 runs along the first section of the canal and a local cycle route takes you the rest of the way. You can take short detours from the canal to visit some nearby attractions too.
